Balenciaga Serendipity ............

Hi Lovelies,

Don't you just love it when a plan comes together ........... ?

Sometimes, you have to believe that things are meant to be, and that was certainly the case for Jools this weekend.

My love for Balenciaga leather will never die. They are a dream to carry as they are so lightweight, but they are also one of the very few bags that you can genuinely say DO improve with age. I promise, the more you use them, the better they become.

My Mum's favourite bag of mine is a vintage Black Balenciaga Hobo that just moulds to your body and sits perfectly on the shoulder, it is the ultimate in boho glamour - and we know that Mum's know best so I must keep her for always!

My Hermes Kelly and my Chanel 2.55 are also both black - and you cannot get more classic than those two styles lol - so I know that these are also bags that I will never move on.

But having a few black bags makes them sometimes all feel a little too similar - I was left feeling a little black bag heavy and I wanted to do something about it.

I have bored you before many times about my quest for the perfect red bag - the "right" red is much harder to find that you would think - too tomato red and it is just a little too "in your face and bright" but go darker, towards burgundy and it can be a little dull and defeat the purpose of getting a colourful bag.

So while I was browsing the Mulberry Forum the other day, one of the other members was looking to sell a Red Balenciaga City because it was her first Balenciaga and she wished she had gone for black - whereas I was in love with the style of my Black City but wanted it in a different colour - well it was surely bag serendipity.

Both bags were in perfect condition, and the leather was even from the same year (2012) and so for the first time ever I tried a bag swop. It worked perfectly as we both wanted what the other person had.

Now, I would only recommend this if you know of the person already, and you must feel comfortable enough to ask as many questions as you need. After all - one person's idea of a brand new condition bag might not be the same as yours lol! But this was the ideal solution for both of us and it was an absolutely seamless swop and as easy as can be.

Just imagine - you are getting a brand new bag - but completely guilt free - how genius!

For me, the most important criteria is to buy from a Non Smoker - that is an absolute deal breaker for me personally -  everybody will have something that is important to them when swopping.

So, it was goodbye to my (very, very beautiful) Black Balenciaga City with Giant Silver Hardware, who really wasn't getting the use she deserved.

And let's all give a big warm welcome to Little Miss Coquelicot!

Balenciaga Coquelicot (or red to you & me) City with Giant Gold Hardware

laid flat when empty

and filled up and ready for her first outing .......

So it was a brilliant way of getting a new bag and we were both really happy with the end result.

What do you think??

The beautiful weather meant Jools Wore another sun dress today.
This one is just such an easy throw on day dress and it is a good price.
On cooler days you can throw a leather or denim jacket over the top

That's serendipity indeed! What a stunning bag - I love the gold details on it.

I'm all for reaching out to similar bag-loving people - I posted on the Purse Forum a while back asking if the Mulberry London icon keyrings ever turned up at Bicester/Shepton, and a lovely forumite messaged me offering to sell me her postbox (the exact one I wanted) for £40 less than RRP. Happy days!

Its great when that happens isnt it honey. I always think if we are buying from other Forum girls that they are going to love and appreciate their bags the way we do (well thats the theory anyway!) Gives you so much more confidence than ebay !!! :)
